Primary Purpose:

The Alcohol Regulatory Manager leads Univar Solutions’ alcohol compliance program within the US EHSQ function. This role ensures the long-term marketability of alcohol products by evaluating and communicating regulatory requirements and risks in alignment with Federal (TTB) and state regulations, while upholding corporate principles. The mission is to maintain compliance, deliver quality customer support, and enhance Univar Solutions’ competitiveness. This position collaborates cross-functionally with Commercial, Field Operations, Regional Regulatory Managers, Tax, Finance, and Master Data teams to support initiatives that improve safety, quality, and compliance.


 

What you'll do:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Federal and State alcohol regulations relevant to customers and field operations.
  • Conduct routine site gap assessments and ensure long-term corrective actions; provide training to new field operations staff.
  • Identify compliance gaps and lead the development of efficient work processes across departments.
  • Own the performance and outcomes of the alcohol compliance program.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to formulas, product returns, tax payments/refunds, permits, labeling, imports/exports, and inventory.
  • Submit accurate bimonthly tax reports and monthly production reports to TTB and applicable state agencies.
  • Track and file Tax Paid return claims within the required six-month window.
  • Proactively communicate regulatory impacts to Commercial and Supply Chain teams.
  • Provide leadership across EHSQ and external functions to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Lead alcohol compliance integration planning for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Facilitate communication between RRMs and internal departments (Operations, Finance, Tax, Global Regulatory Affairs, IT, Master Data, Commercial, Customer Service).

 

What you'll need:

  • Experience in regulatory compliance, preferably in chemical, pharmaceutical, or related industries.
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills across all organizational levels.
  • High-level decision-making ability balancing customer, company, and regulatory needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a diverse workload.
  • Deep understanding of federal and state alcohol regulations.
  • Familiarity with company order fulfillment policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in negotiating compliance matters with regulatory agencies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented, committed to improvement.
  • Extensive experience with SAP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
