Duties
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an EHS Regional Manager.
Reporting to the CD UK General Manager, the successful candidate will help drive EHSQ standards by providing competent support and advice on health, safety and environmental matters to the EMEA Univar Solutions business with particular focus on designated sites across the UK (Middlesbrough with occasional travel to Glasgow).
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- To embrace and lead an EHS culture across EMEA
- To own and drive improvements in our PDA processes, management of ZVE30 and the PDA database
- To verify first level PDAs and act as an escalation point for any queries
- Be a PDA trainer and ensure we have suitable knowledge and understanding within the business
- To support training and administration for Enablon
- Support the UK Quality team with chemical licensing requirements and processing
- Be the lead contact for insurance related matters, including claims, managing the process with both internal and external stakeholders and support legal in any investigation activity
- Be the designated Data Protection Officer and all responsibilities that come with that role, including Data Protection Impact Assessments, Subject Access Requests and associated administration
- To approve products and processes related to our online activity
- Engage and be a key stakeholder in PPE related activities for UK business
- Support UK transport with EHS activity
- Own the leadership walk activity and engage with UK leadership team to meet their objectives
- Manage customer quality documentation and implementation controls
- Customer audit action tracking and responses
- Internal compliance around work instructions and timing of updates
- To develop the onsite competence of our operational teams and support competence building within other functions in a diverse chemically intensive, food and pharma ingredients distribution company
- Provide a focal point for site personnel and provide competent EHS advice
- Support Transport Activities including/developing into Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) and supporting teams managing compliance with CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) legislation
We Are Looking For
- We’re looking for someone who has significant experience in and understands high hazard industry/chemicals and who brings a genuine passion for EHSQ
- You will pair strong commercial acumen with a clear-eyed view of risk, in the context of our current operations
- Customer centric at heart, you build trusted, cross‑functional relationships and collaborate effectively across teams
- You love getting into the detail of processes and aren’t afraid to challenge what’s no longer fit for purpose, driving practical improvements that stick
- With strong admin and self‑motivation, you manage your time well, follow through on commitments, and thrive in a role that balances safety, quality and commercial outcomes
- You will have:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- experience operating on a COMAH facility would be advantageous
