Senior Tax Coordinator – LATAM / International Tax Specialist:

Coordinate and execute tax compliance in Latin American countries, as well as prepare, analyze, and report financial and tax information for the United States in accordance with US GAAP. Support closing processes, tax provisions, corporate reporting, and audits, ensuring technical accuracy, deadline compliance, and alignment with corporate policies. Acts as a key liaison between local teams, external advisors, and the Tax Manager.

 

What You’ll Do:

LATAM Tax Compliance

  • Coordinate compliance of direct and indirect taxes (Income Tax, VAT, withholding taxes, etc.) across multiple jurisdictions in Latin America.
  • Manage tax calendars, reviews, and filing of tax returns in coordination with external advisors and local teams.
  • Review tax returns prepared by external advisors and/or local teams prior to submission.
  • Follow up on tax audits, government requests, and tax contingencies.
  • Participate in regional projects for standardization and automation of tax processes.
  • Ensure tax filing and documentation in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to process improvements, internal controls, and tax technology tools. 

 

Reporting to the United States (US GAAP)

  • Prepare income tax provisions under ASC 740 (Income Taxes).
  • Prepare reconciliations between IFRS or local standards vs. US GAAP.
  • Prepare tax packages and monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the U.S. parent company.
  • Analyze and prepare reports for ETR (Effective Tax Rate), deferred taxes, and uncertain tax positions (UTPs) for various LATAM countries.

 

Financial Close and Controls

  • Actively participate in monthly and annual accounting close.
  • Review tax account reconciliations and supporting documentation for financial audits.
  • Execute and document compliance with internal controls (SOX) related to tax.
  • Identify opportunities for process and control improvements.
  • Document tax processes and policies according to corporate guidelines.

 

Strategic Planning and Support

  • Identify tax efficiency opportunities within the legal framework.
  • Provide technical guidance and supervision to Tax Analysts.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for operational and technical matters before escalation to the Manager.
  • Support restructuring, reorganizations, mergers, or acquisitions with LATAM impact.
  • Advise Finance, Commercial, and Human Resources areas on tax impacts of new operations.

 

What You’ll Need:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting, Finance, or Law.
  • Specialization studies in taxation (preferred).

 

Experience

  • 5 to 7 years of corporate tax experience.
  • Proven experience with taxes in Latin America (preferably in more than one country).
  • Experience in multinational companies.
  • Direct participation in tax reporting to the U.S. under US GAAP.

 

Technical Knowledge

  • US GAAP, especially Income Taxes (ASC 740).
  • IFRS and key differences compared with US GAAP.
  • Tax legislation in LATAM countries (Mexico; desirable: Brazil, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, etc.).
  • Deferred taxes, ETR, transfer pricing (preferred).
  • Financial and tax audit processes.
  • SOX and internal controls.
  • Intermediate English (reading and report analysis).

  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate tax matters across multiple countries.

Languages

  • Advanced / fluent English (required, written and conversational).
  • Native Spanish.
  • Portuguese (preferred).
