Univar Solutions is strengthening our Nordic operations with a new key role: Engineering & Process Improvement Manager. This position is ideal for a technically strong leader who thrives at the intersection of capital projects, chemical operations, and continuous improvement.  If you’re passionate about engineering, project execution, and operational excellence — while working closely with customers, authorities, contractors and terminal teams — this could be your next step!

About the Role

As our Engineering & Process Improvement Manager, you will be responsible for leading major capex projects, managing the Nordic capex portfolio, and serving as our technical expert in chemical handling, lab analysis and regulatory matters. You will also support and further develop our Continuous Improvement culture across terminals as well as be ready to solve problems across our whole organization. A solutions-oriented and cooperative mindset is key for this role. You will collaborate with terminal managers, HSE, commercial teams, engineering partners, and regulatory authorities throughout the Nordics.

Key Responsibilities will be:

1. Lead Engineering & Capex Projects

  • Identify, evaluate, and scope new technical and investment initiatives.

  • Run projects endtoend: feasibility, budgeting, design, procurement, execution, commissioning.

  • Ensure projects comply with company standards, engineering principles, HSE requirements, and chemical regulations (ADR/CLP/Seveso).

  • Support and coach capex projects executed within the terminal organizations.

2. Manage the Nordic Capex Portfolio

  • Maintain a clear and forwardlooking Capex Roadmap for all terminals based on input from terminal organizations.

  • Prioritize and balance investment needs across safety, growth, compliance, and efficiency.

  • Facilitate transparent reporting on progress, risks, budget, and forecast.

3. Act as Technical & Chemical Advisor

  • Support terminal operations with engineering guidance on storage, processes, equipment, and chemical handling.

  • Provide expert input in customer dialogues on chemical and technical topics.

  • Represent operations in dialogues with authorities regarding permits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.

  • Support HSE teams with technical assessments and laboratory operations.

4. Drive Continuous Improvement Projects and Process Development

  • Lead selected Lean/CI initiatives to improve safety, quality, service and efficiency.

  • Support terminal teams in embedding standard work, problem solving, and performance routines.

  • Act as a coach for local CI stakeholders.

  • Actively drive mapping and development of existing work processes

What does the team look like?

In the Nordic Operations team, you will find yourself with four terminal managers and one logistics analyst. Cooperating seamlessly with adjacent functions as EHS, logistics finance is a natural part of our daily work. At our Headquarter in Malmö, you’ll find your Manager Jesper Jönsson, and approx. seventy colleagues in different functions and teams. We have a wide variety of backgrounds and span all generations of the current job market.

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience within industrial engineering, chemical operations, supply chain, or terminal/logistics environments.

  • Demonstrated experience leading technical investment (capex) projects including procurement of consultancy and contractor services.

  • Sound understanding of chemical processes, storage, or terminal technology.

  • Experience engaging with authorities and regulatory frameworks.

  • Exposure to Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvements (Lean/Six Sigma) is a strong plus.
