Primary Purpose:

The Procurement Analyst position is a highly visible supply chain role that is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the inventory planning and procurement cost across the supply chain network. This role requires the ability to balance the sometimes conflicting goals of inventory targets, target customer service levels, forecast accuracy, and safety stock requirements for the Supply Planners which he or she is assigned.  This person is the key liaison to resolve supply issues and ensures the efficient delivery of inventory, service and cost objectives. This role will identify ways to improve supply planning processes by utilizing current tools. In addition, this person is responsible for ensuring accuracy of all purchase order data to support the Sales, Operations & Transportation Teams to meet customer demand and regional performance objectives.  The position will also include responsibility to mentor Supply Planners on supply chain concepts along with SAP functionality.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Focus on SAP systems settings 
  • Excess and aging inventory management 
  • Plant production and customer order fulfillment 
  • Review, evaluate, and modify purchasing activities 
  • Identify and implement changes needed to ensure sound inventory decisions and prevent customer service failures 
  • Provide support to Customer Service and Sales 
  • Interact with Buyers, Network Planning Analysts, Product Line Management, Sales Management and Customer Support Management 
  • Provide backup support to Purchasing functions as needed


Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Expertise with various ERP systems within a production environment, especially SAP 
  • Excellent communication and team building skills
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Strong analytical skills and very detailed-oriented
  • Ability to deal with complexity and manage ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and multi-task
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain/Operations or Finance
  • SAP experience is required
  • Salesforce.com experience is preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of Supply Chain or Purchasing experience with the company
