Director, Finance – Canada:

The Director, Finance - Canada leads all finance activities for the CD&S Canada business segment and is a primary business partner to the Sr. Regional Vice President of Canada. This director-level role is a member of the North America CD&S Finance Leadership team and will be accountable for the business performance management of all P&L and cash activities for the segment. This ‘hands-on’ role will work collaboratively to measure business growth, drive cost reduction, create operating and working capital efficiencies, and drive smart investment decisions across the region, and will present financial results to the CD&S CEO, CFO, and senior leadership team. A successful candidate will be a strong contributor to success of the Canadian CD&S business, and a well-rounded leader, contributing to the development of best practices around the globe.

 

What You’ll Do:

Finance Leadership

  • Serve as strategic finance partner for Canada to the Senior Regional Vice President Chemical Distribution, Canada & EMEA
  • Oversee all Finance activities for the Canadian business ($1B revenue, 200M DGP). Lead 2 Sr. managers and a Manager (total org 12 people)
  • Drive strategic financial insights and performance improvements.
  • Oversee daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Facilitate daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial processes.
  • Prepare and present regular financial updates and reports to senior executives, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Monthly review of the Working Capital performance. Implementation of key initiative to improve performance and cash position
  • Manage financial operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to internal controls while overseeing month-end processes.
  • Spearhead key initiatives to optimize working capital, improve cash flow and enhance overall financial performance.
  • Oversee Capital Expenditure tracking, project submissions, and budgeting to support strategic investments and growth.
  • Actively involved in M&A activities and business divestitures, contributing to the company’s strategic direction and financial optimization
  • Partner with internal audit to ensure compliance with financial policies and drive operational efficiency.
  • Partner closely with Accounting, Accounts Receivable and Payables, Tax, Treasury, as well as Indirect Procurement department.

 

People Leadership

  • Lead a team of managers and analysts by establishing a managing process, ensuring regular interaction on business performance, process improvement and productivity which provides high quality of service and decision support to internal customers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship on personal and career growth opportunities in a way that develops future leaders.
  • Create and maintain a positive team environment.
  • Function as change agent and continuous improvement champion by working directly with other finance team members and business leadership to advance continuous improvement activities.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • MBA and/or CPA/CFA preferred.
  • 5-10 years’ Finance experience with continual increasing responsibilities
  • Supervisory experience required Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills.
  • Well versed/knowledgeable of multiple financial systems enabling extraction of data from complex systems.
  • Strong financial analytics capabilities - able to interpret variances and trends in financial data and identify insights and findings.
  • Critical thinking in review of results and problem solving.
  • Highly motivated leader who embraces change and is a champion for continuous improvement.
  • Strong managerial skills including the ability to deal with all levels of staff, management, and executive personnel in resolving problem situations.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, tact, and discretion.
  • Effective communication skills. Able to get into the details to understand issues but be able to explain things in a concise manner.
  • Strong project and program management capabilities.
  • Strong leadership and talent development skills.
  • Willing and able to listen, and to give and receive constructive feedback.
