The Operations Supervisor I is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operations of the branch, including supervision of the employees, facility and executing operations related activities.


How You Contribute

• Conducting daily pre-shift meetings, communicating expectations to employees and maintaining a supervisory presence throughout the branch.

• Coordinating day-to-day work activities to ensure operational goals and objectives are met.

• Ensuring all employees have the required tools and training on matters related to safety, operation standards and department goals.

• Creating a positive work environment and fostering employee ownership of branch operations and performance.

• General office work, email communications and correspondence with internal and external customers.

• Supporting inspections and paperwork associated with hazardous waste generation and waste pickup transport.

• Participating in inspections from outside agencies (DOT,EPA,FDA,DHS). Sales Support/Customer Service

• Supporting Branch Operations Manager with maintaining budget and operating plans to achieve branch goals.

• Responsible for meeting customer requirements and fulfilling orders in a cost effective manner using appropriate risk management and Standard Operating Procedures.


Quality Assurance

• Ensuring company quality processes are adhered to at the local branch level.

• Partnering with appropriate departments to resolve product quality issues in an efficient and timely manner. Inventory Management

• Responsible for cycle counts and physical inventory; including quarantined material.

• Supervising daily operations, including repack & transportation functions in inventory management system ( e.g. UVX2000).


Supervisory Responsibility

• Direct supervision for Drivers, Material Handlers, Tank Farm Workers, Chemists and/or Lab Technicians. May supervise other positions as assigned.

• Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Skills and Background

 

Education/Experience/Training:

• High School Diploma/GED required

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience

• 3-5 years’ experience in operations

• Knowledge of chemical distribution facility operation preferred

 

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

• Supervisory Leadership; proven ability to communicate with, support, and motivate employees to achieve operational objectives

• Strong verbal /written communication skills

• Analytical; ability to track, record and report department production

• Experience with performance metrics and process improvement

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Excel and Word

• High level of decision-making ability; balancing customers’ needs and company objectives

• Ability to respond to emergency response situations

• Some branches may require HazMat certification or Hazwoper Certification
