REMOTE opportunity - Preferred location: Los Angeles and greater LA, CA area; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA

 

The Sr. District Commercial Specialist (DCS) is a key commercial support role responsible for sales interface support and decision-making between suppliers, operations, customer service and procurement. This entails driving growth and profitability improvement through price, cost management, analytics and data-driven decision making. The Sr. DCS is a leadership-track role that supports sales management and sales allowing these positions to execute on the sales growth strategy. Based in either the greater Los Angeles or Seattle area, this role reports to the District Commercial Manager
 

What You’ll Do

Price and Profitability:

  • Review transactions at a district level and make recommendations to improve profitability
  • In-depth review of the product cost, price supports, freight charges, buy strategy and supply plan to determine an optimal sell price
  • Supports the district commercial manager on pricing proposals and strategy for sales management and sales team to implement
  • Provide Ad-Hoc and routine analysis of business performance to identify growth and profitability improvements

 

Sourcing:

  • Sourcing Requests (new & existing products)
  • Identify and communicate opportunities and need for new material setup
  • Research possible sourcing options and determine the feasibility
  • Assist in reviewing requests for products on sales control
  • Product Recommendations – Identify opportunities to offer customers replacement products
  • Responsible for making routine updates to plant and 3rd party cost contracts
  • Lead UPI (Unproductive Inventory) review and resolution activities for the district

 

Bids Support:

  • Assist with gathering necessary product information (product codes, cost, lead times, minimum order quantities, volume breaks) for pricing
  • Request and gather required product information to include in bid packets
  • Make necessary system updates (SAP and Salesforce) to reflect bid outcomes and successfully onboard awarded business
  • Support win rate performance improvement and award activation activities

 

Vendor Support:

  • Identify, request and negotiate vendor cost support to meet profitability targets
  • Communicate supports to stakeholders and ensure all systems are updated as needed
  • Proactively identify poor performing supported business and recommend necessary actions to improve profitability

 

 

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree  (Technical Science, Chemistry preferred)
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • Strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Broad knowledge of chemical distribution – sales, marketing, financial, procurement
  • People management experience a plus
  • Prior experience with SAP/ERP systems strongly preferred
  • Highly proficient in MS Office applications especially MS Excel
  • Positive attitude with demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently, manage priorities, and take on new tasks
  • Desire to take leadership responsibilities.
