Primary Purpose:

Primary responsibilities will include supporting the Vice President – Investor Relations and the leadership team in developing and executing an Investor Relations business plan.  The incumbent will lead investor relations activities, including:  preparing quarterly earnings materials (earnings news release, call script, presentation, Q&A document), creating investor presentations, monitoring Wall Street analyst research on Univar Solutions and global competitors, maintaining and monitoring sell side estimates, communicating with institutional investors, providing detailed financial modeling and analysis, and leading the preparation for investor and executive management events.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing presentations to investors, earnings releases and other investor relations materials. Includes development of slide content and graphical representation of information
  • Interact with investors to present the Univar Solutions story
  • Analyze industry dynamics and the competitive landscape
  • Monitor perceptions of the investment community on an ongoing basis and provide regular feedback
  • Analyze company SEC filings, Wall Street research, and market reports
  • Work closely with members of FP&A, business unit finance, treasury, tax, legal, corporate development, communications and accounting personnel
  • Review news releases and other public communication documents to ensure that investor communications of company performance and initiatives are in line with management’s view of the business and sufficiently communicate our strategy


Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to drive process and results in a matrixed environment
  • Sophisticated knowledge of research and modeling
  • Requires highly polished speaking, writing, and presentation skills, and a high degree of comfort working with people of varied backgrounds and cultures
  • Objective and dispassionate viewpoint, quantitative orientation, and ability to respond quickly and positively to changes in priorities
  • Strong documentation and organization skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation media
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work on routine and accelerated schedules
  • Understands how businesses operate in general
  • Great at gleaning meaning from whatever data is available
  • Ability to use multiple problem-solving tools and techniques

 

Education/Training

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a comparable Business field, or equivalent professional experience in investment banking, equity research, corporate financial planning/analysis (FPA) or investor relations.
  • An advanced finance or business degree is preferred.
  • CPA or CFA designation is helpful but not required.

 

Experience

  • 6-10+ years’ experience in an equity research, investment banking, investor relations, or corporate FP&A environment is required
  • Strong business planning, analysis and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize data, including macroeconomic and business performance, into actionable information
  • Prior experience routinely presenting and interacting with senior executive management
  • Prior experience in distribution and related industries would be a plus, but not required
  • Broad understanding of business and how each function affects the profitability of the company
