Primary Purpose:

The Financial Analyst – USA FP&A supports the financial reporting and analysis requirements for the USA region by providing timely and insightful analysis and helps influence the decision-making process. The role will collaborate with multiple teams, identify key drivers of success, and meet important deadlines while living the mission and values of Univar.  This position reports to the Director – USA FP&A.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting routine variance analysis against plan, forecast and prior period actuals for USA functions and communicate results to function owners
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating plan and monthly forecast process by developing budgeting tools, oversight of USA function plan development and reporting of results of the plan
  • Provide Ad Hoc reports and analysis on both financial and non-financial data on an as needed basis
  • Monitor and report key financial metrics on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of reporting, visualization and analytical solutions (BPC/EPM 10.1, Tableau, Power BI, SAP, etc.)  
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial presentations in PowerPoint and BPC/EPM
  • Work closely with other finance departments on analysis of financial process
  • Ability to be a contributor to implementation and transformation project teams with the ability to hit project deadlines, provide necessary project documentation and communicate valuable insight/information to ensure the success of the project

 

Decision-Making Authority:

  • Determines activities that are not according to finance compliance and administrative policy and procedure

 

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant Business, Finance, Accounting and/or IT experience
  • Minimum 1-2 years of report writing/development from multidimensional databases
  • Experience with SAP, BW and BPC/EPM
  • Strong interpersonal skills in coaching and team building with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle diverse and significant workload
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and deadline sensitive
  • Must have demonstrated ability to successfully influence non-financial managers
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural and global environment preferred
  • Strong computer skills; Proficient in MS Excel & PowerPoint

 

 

Education / Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from fully accredited four-year institution is required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office and have strong writing/communication skills
