Primary Purpose:

Manages and makes recommendations for the operational aspects of the Company’s Leave Management Program ensuring both Federal, State, and Local compliance requirements are met. Act as the subject matter expert for leave administration by providing advice and consultation to management. Provide excellent customer service to employees with regards to all aspects of leave management. This position is a subject matter expert regarding all types of employee leaves of absence, including Short Term Disability, FMLA, Long Term Disability, PTO, Unpaid leaves, etc.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Leave Management – Paid Time Off, Short Term and Long Term Disability, FMLA, Union, Medical, and Personal Leaves
  • Serve as subject matter expert in all aspects of leave management.
  • Day to day point of contact with third party disability vendor.
  • Conduct the Interactive Process, and other ADA regulations, between the employee, field management and corporate legal department.
  • Complete billing processes as required.
  • Responsible for maintenance and management of HRIS and Timekeeping systems as it pertains to leaves. Provide guidance and education around leave programs
  • Research and remain current on the changes in Federal, State, and Local leave regulations, and maintain appropriate reference material regarding these changes.
  • Advises HR Generalists/Mgs/Directors and People Managers about FMLA and State Laws.
  • Accountable for communication about LOA’s to external and internal stakeholders
  • Based on legislative or regulatory changes, recommend appropriate process and system updates.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of HR and/or leave management experience
  • Union experience desired but not required
  • Corporate office experience in a multi-State environment preferred

 

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must be familiar with Federal & State laws: FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience with HRIS and Payroll systems (SAP and Kronos preferred)
