At ChemPoint, the Accountant II is responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close of North America and EMEA legal entities.  Reporting and reconciliation of all intercompany receivables and payables with parent company (Univar) and subsidiaries. Moderate to complex preparation, reconciliation, and review of journal entries including accruals, true ups, and reclass activity. Assist with maintenance of general ledger in Great Plains and Hyperion, including setup of new accounts and revisions to account mapping. BlackLine administrator for periodic account reconciliation and SOX control related tasks. Primary contact for auditors for PBC items in relation to ongoing annual and interim audits.  Works with and reports directly to the Senior Accountant.

A DAY IN YOUR NEW CAREER:

  • Responsible for monthly general ledger and financial statement reporting, including journal entry preparation/review, intercompany reporting and reconciliation, and month end financial and supplementary reporting to parent company.
  • Responsible for audit functions, primarily PBC preparation and walkthroughs relating to: 
    • External Annual and Interim, Nrth America (EY / EMEA (RSM) 
    • Annual bank (Bank f America)  / Inventory (Hilco) audits 
    • Internal SOX audits: including SOX Effectiveness, SOX Walkthrughs and test Controls/Evidence. 
    • All ther audits as requested by either internal or external auditors. 
  • Processes and reconciles supplier cost supports.
  • Conducts Balance Sheet account reconciliation and follow up of required adjustments to team members.
  • Prepares annual tax packages with parent company as well as support for periodic property tax filings with outside consultant. 
  • Produces ad hoc projects as needed. Has included preparation of audited financial statements for EMEA entity, project support, maintenance of general ledger, process improvement etc.


DESIRED BACKGROUND AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from fully accredited four year institution is required (accounting or finance degree strongly preferred); 
  • At least 2 years of experience in corporate financial reporting, preferably including multiple currencies, legal entities, and ledgers (subledger, general ledger, and multi-ledger). 
  • Strong technical accounting skills. 
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, works well under pressure and multiple deadlines. 
  • Written and verbal skills including accounting memo research and preparation. 
  • Knowledge and experience working with MS Office Suite, with strong Excel skills
