Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Analytics Engineer is to design, build, and optimize analytics data solutions that enable trusted insights and data-driven decision making. This role bridges business needs and data capabilities by translating analytical requirements into scalable data models, transformations, and metrics. As a subject matter expert within their domain, the Analytics Engineer partners closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to understand data and reporting needs, develop analytical solutions, and ensure data accuracy, performance, and reliability. The role ensures that analytics and data changes are implemented efficiently, minimize disruption to business operations, and support ongoing optimization of systems and processes.
What You’ll Do:
Data Development
- Develops and optimizes SQL-based transformations, analytical datasets used by dashboards, self-service analytics, and downstream applications.
- Designs and maintains core business metrics and KPIs, ensuring consistent definitions, traceability, and alignment with business processes.
- Analyzes data and analytics outputs to identify root causes, data quality issues, and process inefficiencies, partnering with stakeholders to drive resolution.
- Measures analytics system performance and data quality against defined standards, proactively identifying opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and usability.
- Creates and maintains data documentation, including data models, metric definitions, transformation logic, and lineage.
- Supports analytics testing by developing data validation checks, reconciliation logic, and test scenarios to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Participates in and supports user acceptance testing (UAT) for analytics solutions and reporting enhancements.
- Implements routine analytics platform and data model improvements to reduce technical debt and improve maintainability.
- Assists leadership in evaluating data and analytics risks, including data integrity, performance, scalability, and downstream impact.
- Develops and documents mitigation strategies for identified data and analytics risks.
Analytics Design & Planning
- Translates business objectives into analytics-ready data models, metrics definitions, and analytical solutions that enable trusted reporting and insights.
- Partners closely with Product Owners, Analytics Leaders, and business stakeholders to design, build, and evolve analytics solutions from concept through production and ongoing optimization.
- Reviews analytics and reporting requirements, identifies data, transformation, and modeling needs, and produces specifications to support scalable analytics development.
- Collaborates with data architects, data engineers, and BI developers to ensure data pipelines, models, and semantic layers meet functional requirements and performance standards.
- Acts as a liaison between business and technical teams to clarify analytical needs, resolve data challenges, and adapt solutions as requirements evolve.
- Supports analytics backlog grooming and prioritization, ensuring work is aligned to business value, data readiness, and platform standards.
Analytics Enablement & User Support
- Develops analytics enablement materials such as metric definitions, reporting guides, and data usage documentation.
- Provides training and knowledge-sharing sessions using multiple formats (workshops, office hours, documentation, one-on-one support) to improve data literacy and self-service adoption.
- Supports end users by troubleshooting data and reporting issues, coordinating with data engineering or platform teams as needed, and validating fixes.
- Assists with analytics support intake and prioritization, ensuring issues are tracked, resolved, and communicated effectively.
- Performs other analytics-related duties as required or requested to support evolving business and data needs.
What You’ll Need:
· Bachelor’s degree from fully accredited four year institution is or equivalent years of work experience required.
· Experience in Business-to-Business service organization, preferably as a Business or Systems Analyst for 5-7 years equivalent experience.
· Strong proficiency with SQL and cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Fabric, Databricks), including experience building analytical datasets, transformations, and reporting views
· Experience working with analytics and BI tools (e.g., Power BI or similar), supporting both standardized reporting and self-service analytics
· Advanced data analysis skills with the ability to quickly assess data, identify patterns or issues, and translate findings into meaningful insights
· Solid understanding of analytics engineering concepts, including data modeling, metric standardization, data quality validation, and performance optimization
· Familiarity with enterprise systems and data domains such as CRM, ERP, BI, marketing, or web technologies, and how data flows across them
· Ability to partner effectively with stakeholders to translate business questions into analytical requirements and scalable data solutions
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and analytical outcomes to non-technical audiences
· Demonstrates adaptability and versatility when working across cross-functional teams, vendors, and data consumers
· Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within agile, cross-disciplinary analytics teams
· Applies sound judgment, critical thinking, and attention to detail when designing and validating analytics solutions
· Receptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement of technical skills, data quality, and analytics practices

Pay and Benefits:
- The salary range for this position is $98,480 – $123,090 annually.
- The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
