Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Industry Manager is to provide leadership and direction to the Product Portfolio Managers for the designated industries as assigned. Activities would include giving the business unit appropriate direction with regard to industry trends, to plan and execute growth strategies, and to manage and expand product lines and supplier relationships. This role manages profit and loss for a global portfolio of product lines. Defines and refines ChemPoint marketing and sales processes and roles in collaboration with Marketing to best meet and exceed supplier, customer, and internal expectations.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Maintains effective relationships with assigned vendors and acts as a liaison for vendor/field relations
  • Stays abreast of product trends and industry developments, and pursues new products/vendors to assume at all times, the most effective product/vendor mix
  • Recommends new/modified strategies based on external market analysis, financial analysis, and marketing objectives
  • Initiates and manages national incentive programs with key vendors and with industry managers, responsible for their implementation
  • Monitors and analyzes product sales and profitability, compares and assures compliance with established goals
  • Generates industry reports makes recommendations for corrective action, and actively assists in their implementation
  • Maintains close communications with marketing, as well as sales and operations within the organization
  • Conducts in-house supplier updates that help enhance industry performance as required
  • Conducts with market to research projects to assist region in development of industry plans
  • Understands and practices the guiding principles
  • Performs other related duties as required or requested

 

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree from fully accredited four-year institution or equivalent work experience is required
  • Experience in strategic marketing, management and direct sales, preferably as a Market Analyst, or 10+ years equivalent experience
  • Experience and strong knowledge of using PC and Windows OS, database experience desired
  • Knowledge and experience working with MS Office Suite, with strong Excel skills
  • Ability to determine and establish appropriate collaboration and communication points (people, teams, organizational relationships) to achieve supply chain and service advantages and targeted solutions
  • Consultative selling skills
  • Exhibits some versatility when interacting with customers, suppliers, and outsourced relationships
  • Active listening skills with the ability to adjust behavior style to successfully interact with others when addressing challenges
  • Effectively conveys ideas and concepts via multiple modes of communication
  • Problem-solving and negotiation
  • Customer and territory management
  • Knowledge of pricing and marketing strategy

 

Where You’ll Work:

This is a home-based role in Chicago, with up to 50% travelling in a year.

 

Pay & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is USD 128,000 – 192,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.  Available employee benefits include health, vision, and dental. We also provide 401k matching for retirement and paid time off.
